National Dog Day

Did you know that August 26th is National Dog Day? Our canine friends are amazing and wonderful animal companions, who complete our families and turn our houses into homes. Fido’s unconditional love, loyalty, and friendship are definitely worth celebrating. This is a great time to spoil your furry pal! Here, a local Bee Cave, TX vet offers tips on ways to brighten up Fido’s day.

A new toy is a wonderful way to score some tail wags. Classic toys, like rope toys, are fine, but you can also get your furry companion something more modern, like an automated laser pointer or a mechanical ball launcher. It’s also important to spend some time playing with your canine buddy. This will provide Fido with beneficial mental stimulation, and help him burn off excess energy. Plus, it’s bound to put a smile on your face, too. Don’t forget to snap some pics of your four-legged pal having fun with his new playthings. Dogs are absolutely adorable when they are feeling playful!

If there’s one thing that’s guaranteed to get that tail wagging, it’s a yummy snack. Store-bought treats are fine, but Fido can also have some cooked, plain meat, chicken, or fish, without the skin, bones, or fat. Or, give your furry buddy some shredded deli meat, or a few pieces of bacon and sausage. (Note: don’t go overboard with these fatty treats: they are only safe in small portions.) Your canine pal can also enjoy some doggy ice cream, which you can find in many pet stores and grocery markets.

Man’s Best Friend is very adventurous, and loves to explore new places. Take your four-legged friend on a fun trip to a dog park, or visit a new trail with him. You can also just enjoy a relaxing stroll with Fido. There’s no better way to wind down after a long day than by spending some quality time with your beloved pet!

Doggy Comforts

Small touches can help keep your furry friend much more comfortable. A comfy doggy bed is a great way to pamper your pup! If your canine companion is a senior, he may also appreciate elevated doggy dishes, or some pet ramps or stairs.
